A dependency of Rincon de la Victoria, Benagalbon was formerly the dominant borough in the municipality, which bore its name, until this status was conferred upon Rincon in 1950 in the wake of the latter’s development and growth. Today, Benagalbon is the region of Rincon de la Victoria that best conserves the spirit of the Axarquia region, as, despite extensive modernisation, its atmosphere is still unmistakably characteristic of the aforementioned area.
